For professional event organisers

Event Medical Enquiry

Three short steps. You will see a live planning score and indicative tier (Purple Guide style). This is not a medical needs assessment or a quote.

Your council or Safety Advisory Group (SAG) may still want a written plan before cover is agreed. The legal context (CQC, HSE themes) is in the foldout below if you need it.

UK compliance context (CQC, HSE / Purple Guide themes, indicative)
  • CQC: Vehicles used to transport patients to hospital are regulated; providers offering ambulances for transfers should be appropriately registered where the law applies.
  • HSE / Purple Guide themes: Ambulances are not the main treatment area. Plan a proper medical post so vehicles stay free for emergencies and transfers.
  • Tiering: Tiers 1–5 summarise typical expectations from Purple Guide–style tier guidance (some EIF summaries use four bands). Your SAG or licensing authority may expect a written MNA.

Numbers here are a planning aid only. They are not clinical advice and do not replace your risk assessment, insurer, or medical sign off.

What this tier usually covers (from the Guide)
What you get (tier & headcount)
    • A tier (1 to 5) and rough team size that track both crowd size and risk, aligned with The Purple Guide (EIF).
    • Enough to talk to a provider or council early. Binding cover still comes from your medical plan and SAG.
Assessment before a binding quote (MNA & plan)

Reputable medical event providers usually treat a medical needs assessment and an event medical plan as part of proper governance before committing to cover. Early numbers from this form can start a conversation; a final quote follows the full risk profile and agreed scope.

Why the plan matters for pricing

    • Risk-led, not attendance-only: guidance such as the Purple Guide frames provision around risk; a smaller high-risk event can need more resource than a larger low-risk one.
    • Defining scope: staffing (e.g. doctors, paramedics, first aiders), equipment, vehicles, and facilities are priced once required levels are agreed.
    • Compliance: providers typically match planned cover to registration and regulatory expectations (e.g. CQC in England where applicable) and local multi-agency expectations.

    Typical sequence

    1. Discussion: event type, audience, history, and context (this enquiry captures high-level inputs).
    2. Assessment: medical needs assessment to agree the required level of cover.
    3. Quote: formal proposal based on that assessment.
    4. After acceptance: detailed event medical plan, often shared with the Safety Advisory Group (SAG) or equivalent.

Takeaway: quoting without a proper needs assessment risks weak cover or wasted cost. Numbers here are indicative for early conversation, not a substitute for your own risk assessment or clinical sign-off.

Defaults match a simple daytime event. Open More detail only if you already know things like crowd posture, season, or hospital size.

Programme danger, not seating layout. Seating is under More detail.
Leave on auto unless the hours box does not match how long the event runs (e.g. multi day festival).
Longer drives mean you need spare capacity while an ambulance is out.
More detail (posture, history, season, hospital)

Only if relevant. “Not specified” is fine.

Only matters if people stay longer on site than medics are booked.

Extra on the programme (tick any that apply)

If activity risk is already high for motors, this adds a small extra nudge only.

Treatment-centre capabilities in discussion (tick all that apply)

These raise the score and tell us what you are discussing. They do not mean you must provide everything on site.
